I am glad that UnitZeroOne.com made a contribution to the imageprocessing library. Now there is a very fast bump mapping and normal map filter (QuickBumpMap and QuickNormalMap).
Theese filters work with a native filter like the QuickSepia and there would be a way to implement them on a pixel-level. So this is why they have the Quick prefix.
Right now I am working (besides of my work) on very nice filters to synthesize textures. As always: Stay tuned!




Uhm… that normal mapping doesn’t look right to me :? afaik there is no greys on a normal mapping:

Yes, I think you are right. It is not a real normal map but on the other and it does the job well. It would be good to have a different name maybe that differentiates this output from a normal map but also tells the user that it is something like a normal map.
