We really have a premiere this time. Thibault Imbert just released his book “Pratique d’ActionScript 3″ for free.
The story behind this is pretty sad but I have to say this is an awesome move from Thibault. It is about 1000 pages and took more than a year of work.
So if you are French you definitly have to check it out. And do not forget to donate some bucks to support Thibault if the book is useful for you!
Man, it’s a real shame that O’Reilly refused to publish this.. I can’t believe that he just decided to give away more than one year of hard work for free – although I’m curious about what kind of paper version will be available as he promised.

Shtong >> O’Reilly couldn’t release it for a different reason. They wanted to, but they couldn’t for a reason I can not say for the moment.
All I can say is that I am not the only one concerned, some authors are in the same situation.

Thats unfortunate about O’Reilly… but aren’t there other publishers out there who would be eager to take a piece out of the O’Reilly pie and publish it?
And for my selfish/uncultured concerns… possibly a publisher who would print it in English? :)
Someone would have to translate the book in that case :) And that will take a while…
be sure to check out the chapter where he discusses the byte array object…
if there are any french speaking folks willing to translate this book for the community it would be cool if you start with that chapter, i think it’s gold…
i have considered machine translating the book but have not found the time to do so….
